Elkader Register, Thur., 28 Jun. 1888. From the Postville Review, undated.

Mrs. John Reif, residing south of town, died quite suddenly last Sunday night and was buried in the Postville cemetery on Tuesday afternoon, a large concourse of relatives and friends attending the last sad rites. The family have our deepest sympathy. We understand erysipelas was the cause of her death. - Postville Review.

John Reif's biography from the Clayton County history, 1882:
"Mr. Reif was married to Catharine Fisher, Feb. 22, 1858; she was born in Bavaria, Germany, May 22, 1825"
