Elkader Register, Thur., 24 May 1888.

Mrs. Chas. Gerndt, who has been a resident of McGregor for over thirty years. died at her home in that city on the 12th inst., aged 59 years. she leaves two sons and four daughters to mourn the loss of a dearly beloved mother.

1885 IA State Census, Mendon twp.
Charles Gerndt, age 62
Susan Gerndt, age 55

She is named as Suzie Mars on the 1925 Iowa State Census entry of her son Charles T. Gerndt.
