Special to The GazetteMcGregor - The body of Gordon Adams was found at 5 p.m. Monday in the Mississppi river near Clayton, ten miles below McGregor, Adams had been missing since his boat was found Sunday. The body is at the Pilkington funeral home in McGregor, pending funeral arrangements.
Adams left home at 7 a.m. Sunday to set traps on an island. He was towing a small skiff attached to his launch. The supposition is that he went up a small slough in the skiff and the skiff drifted away while he was on the island. Then, it is believed, he tried to swim for it as the skiff and his clothes were found on the opposite banks.
Monday was Adams' 25th birthday. He is survived by his wife and a four month old baby; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Adams, and a brother in the Navy. He served two and one-half years in the army in Word war II.
