DIED - Near Clayton City, on the 12th inst., of Consumption, Augustus Beaurette, aged 30 years.
The deceased was one of those to whom but to know is to be a friend. During an acquaintance of fifteen years we have never known one to express towards him any feeling than that of friendship. When the Nation was in peril and called for aid he was among the first to rush to the rescue, serving his time honorably and faithfully, braving the dangers and enduring hardships with a heroism which, if compared, would dim the lustre of others less modest and assuming. And where the seeds of that terrible disease were implanted which cut him off in the vigor of manhood and took him forever from among us! Yet the remembrance of his kind and generous heart will live long in the minds of all who knew him.
