Elkader Register, Thur., 02 Feb. 1888. Osborne column.

Sunday noon, January 21st, occurred the death of Michael Murphy, who had been stopping with J. P. McDermott at the Valley House, for some time. The cause of his death is not known, but is believed to be the result of blood poisoning. He had severely injured his hand some time ago, and it showed signs of great inflammation. Deceased had no relatives in this country and his exact age is not known, but he is supposed to have been about 60 yeas old. He was buried on the 24th in the Catholic cemetery at Elkader.
