Growney, Thomas 1853 - 1887

Elkader Register, Thur., 01 Dec. 1887.

Died on Saturday, Nov. 26, 1887, Mr. Thomas Growney. Deceased was born in Northampton County, Pennsylvania, Aug. 07, 1853, and came to this county when but 4 years old. He moved with his parents on a farm near Clayton, and remained with them until the date of his death. Thomas was a young man of many good qualities, who if spared, would have been one of nature's noble men. His kind, genial disposition won for him a host of friends, who now mourn his death. To his parents he was a dutiful son, on whom they depended for care and comfort in their old age. His funeral, which occurred on Monday, was followed by a large concourse of sorrowing friends. May he rest in peace.
