Elkader Register, Thur., 17 Nov. 1887. Garnavillo column.

Died of peritonitis, on Sunday Nov. 13, Geo. Behrens, son of D. Behrens, who lives on a farm about 3 miles east of town. George had left home a few days previous to work for Richard Hayden; while there he was taken ill. Although the best of medical skill was called, still he lingered but a few days on earth. His remains were buried at the Lutheran cemetery on Tuesday, followed by a large number of sorrowing relatives and friends. Rev. Sommerlad performed the ceremony. We are without further particulars.
