Elkader Register, Thur., 28 Apr. 1887. Elkport column.
Died, Tuesday the 26th, 1887, Wm. Hohman; aged about 40 years. Mr. Hohman was working in his garden with Mike Zapf all day Tuesday until about five o'clock, p.m., when he suddenly fell over. Dr. Kriebs was at once called but by the time Mr. Hohman was taken home he was dead. The doctor pronounced it heart disease. Mr. Hohman has been a citizen of Elkport a number of years working at his trade of blacksmith. He leaves a wife and family to mourn the loss of a kind and indulgent husband and father. He will be buried Thursday, Rev. Brier officiating. Peace to his ashes.
