McLoughlin, Winifred 1821 - 1887

MCLOUGHLIN, MCGLOUGHLIN, MCGLOUGHIN

Elkader Register, Thur., 17 Mar. 1887.

At the family residence in Highland township, on Monday morning last, occurred the death of Winifred, wife of John McGloughlin, Sr., after a long sickness.

Deceased was a native of county Mayo, Ireland, where she was born in 1821. About the year 1854 her parents emigrated to the United States, and settled in Illinois, where she married Mr. McGloughin, and shortly afterward the couple came to Clayton County settling in Highland township, where they have lived, honored and respected by all, for 31 years. She leaves an aged husband, two sons and two daughters to mourn her death.

The funeral occurred on Wednesday, her remains being laid to their final resting place in the Catholic cemetery at this place.

The large attendance at the funeral, and the great sympathy expressed by all, tell better than we can write how she was loved by those among whom she has lived so long. May she rest in peace !
