From the Storm Lake Tribune of last Saturday, we learn of the death of "Bay" Ellis, which occurred at that place on the 31st of January. "Bay" lived among us for many years, and there are numbers who will regret to learn of his death. The Tribune says:
"Mr. J. B. W. Ellis died last Monday night at 10:30, of inflammation of the bowels, after an illness of about six days. Mr. Ellis was born in Cleveland, Ohio, February 09th, 1849, and at the age of ten moved to Clayton County, this state. During the war he entered the service and served his country two years. In 1875 he married Miss Mary Latham, the result of the marriage being two children - one boy of eleven years and the other a girl of eighteen months. He moved to Storm Lake nearly four years ago. The funeral exercises took place at the Congregational church on Wednesday afternoon, conducted by Rev. Baker, of Newell. Mr. Ellis clung tenaciously to life, and up to within two hours of his death, he insisted that he would get well. He was a kind, respectful and generous man to his family and his friends."
