Elkader Register, Thur., 17 Nov. 1886. Elk Column.

DIED- At his home in Mallory township, Sunday, Nov. 7th, 1886, Hiram Hatfield. Mr. Hatfield has been confined to his bed, at times, for over a year. The funeral occurred Tuesday, Nov. 9th. Rev. Watters conducted the services. an unusually large crowd followed his remains to his last resting place. His remains were entered in Brown's cemetery. He leaves a wife and family to mourn the loss of a husband and father.
