Elkader Register, Thur., 14 Jan. 1886.
On Wednesday last, at his home in Clayton Center, occurred the death of Henry Wedemeyer, father of Charles Wedemeyer, at the advanced age of 84 years. Deceased was a native of Luenneberg, Hanover, where he was born in 1810, but he has resided in Clayton county since 1864. His wife died in 1882, but five children are left to mourn his loss. The funeral occurred on Friday at Clayton Center, and was quite largely attended. Rev. Seifert officiated.
(Note: Birth year is incorrect according to cemetery record which gives DOB = 1801 rather than 1810)
