KUEHL, FICK, SACKER

Joachim Kuehl was born August 13, 1843, in Basandtan, Germany, and died October 27, 1931, at Littleport, Iowa. He was united in marriage to Miss Mary Fick. Four children were born to this union. Mr. Kuehl came to America in the year 1866 and settled in Clayton County near Littleport. The deceased, after coming to America spent the rest of his life in Clayton County. In the year 1870 his wife died. In 1872 he was again united in marriage to Miss Sacker. Twelve children were born to this union. It pleased God to take his second wife home in the year 1917. Ten children also preceded him in death. For the last thirteen years Mr. Kuehl made his home with several of his children. Four years he spent with J. J. Kuehl, two with Charles Kuehl, and the last seven with Wm. Kuehl. The deceased enjoyed more than the average health for his age up until three or four weeks before his departure, when he was confined to bed. He leaves to mourn his departure six sons, J. J. Kuehl of Elkader, Herman of Thompson, Iowa, Charles and William of Littleport, John of Elkport, and Henry of Garnavillo. Forty-three grandchildren survive him, besides a host of friends.

The deceased reached the age of 88 years, two months and 14 days.

The Rev. F. Damm officiated at services at the home, while the Rev. P. Kitterer officiated at the service in the Evangelical church here. Interment was made in the East Side cemetery.
