Clayton County Register, Thur., 06 Aug. 1931. Littleport column.

This community was shocked last Saturday when word reached here that Mrs. Otto Meirsen* had passed away at Finley hospital in Dubuque.

Mrs. Meirsen had been in poor health the past year, and two weeks ago was taken to the hospital in hopes that she might get some relief, but all medical help failed and on Saturday evening at three o'clock passed away. She leaves to mourn her death her husband and seven children, father and mother, and seven brothers and sisters. Funeral services were held at the home Tuesday afternoon with interment in Union Cemetery.

--- --- ---

Clayton County Register, Thur., 13 Aug. 1931.

Hulda Emma Henrietta Mierson (nee Fritz) was born Nov. 27, 1895, and the "Angel of Death" claimed her at Finley hospital, August 01, 1931, thus her age was 35 years, ten months and four days.

At infancy she was (next words blurred) and later confirmed in the Evangelical Lutheran church at Elkport, becoming a member of the congregation. She was married to Otto Mierson Jan. 08, 1914. To this happy union seven children were born. They are: Ivanelle, Glen, John, Dale, Lyle, Don and Kenneth, who, together with the husband, survive.

She was a loving wife and a true helpmate while health and strength permitted, and a wonderful mother - as well as dutiful daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Louis Fritz, Sr., of Elkport; also an affectionate sister to the surviving sisters and brothers, Louis Fritz, Jr., Augusta, Mrs. R. Jaster, Elkport, Henry, Littleport, Mrs. Jas. Noggle and Mrs. Earl Shaw, Greeley.

Some day we'll know
the reason why
Some souls are called
So young to die.
But to that starry
Home above
Partings'll ne'er be
But joy and love.

Rev. Franke of Elkader very consolingly conducted the sad burial rites and thence the large cortege, accompanied the remains to its last resting place in Union Cemetery in Littleport, on Tuesday, Aug. 4th.
