Squire Hansel, youngest son of Philip and Catharine Hansel, was born July 31, 1866, and died Monday morning, July 06, 1931, at the age of 64 years, 11 months and six days. He resided on the home place until his death.
He was united in marriage to Rachel Hammond Dec. 15, 1886. To this union five children were born, Mrs. Aron Harbaugh, Mrs. Albert Hageman, Mrs. Gertrude Jennings, Mrs. Winfrey Smith, all of Garber, Iowa, and Palmer Hansel on the home place.
He leaves to mourn his death his wife, four daughters, one son (named above), 14 grandchildren, one great-grandchild, many relatives and a host of friends. He also leaves five sisters and one brother: Mrs. Mary Cole of Edgewood, Mrs. John Hammond of Clear Lake, Wis., Mrs. Jim Bowman of Garber, Mrs. Louisa Gilberts of Nakomis, Ill., Mrs. Margaret Lovett of Ellendale, N.Dak., and J. L. Hansel of Garber.
Mr. Hansel was a man of high respect and was thought very much of all through life.
Funeral services were held from the house Wednesday afternoon at 2:00 o'clock, with Mr. Nothdurft officiating, burial being made at the Brown cemetery.
