Clayton County Register, Thur., 18 June 1931. Strawberry Point column.

Friends were shocked last Tuesday soon after dinner to learn that Mrs. Richard Alderson, Sr., had passed away from a stroke of apoplexy. Mrs. Alderson was a true and faithful friend, especially to those in need, and all who knew her will remember her as an unselfish and worthy example of loyalty and justice to all.

Funeral services were held at the M.E. church Thursday afternoon, conducted by the pastor, Rev. T. J. Elwick. The pall bearers were neighbors of the deceased: F. E. Davis, G. W. Barr, J. F. Grassmeyer, Richard Laity, Jr., Thos. Laity and J. W. Troup. Interment took place in our beautiful cemetery.

Mrs. Alderson, nee Hannah Elizabeth, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James Simpson, was born May 01, 1854, at Center Grove. On July 01, 1876 she was married to Richard Alderson at Richardsville, where they lived a few years. Then they moved to Clayton County near Strawberry Point. They have lived in Strawberry Point twenty-eight years and in Clayton County for forty-three years. She is survived by her husband and seven children, Richard, Jr., of Strawberry Point, John L. Alderson of Elgin, Ill., Mrs. Lizzie Gladwin of Des Moines, Mrs. Lizzie Alderson, Mrs. Maggie Nace and Miss Mayme Alderson of Strawberry Point and Mrs. Addie Toole of Lamont; also (13 or 18) grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, one brother, George Simpson of Fort Dodge, besides other relatives and a large circle of friends.
