BACKES, RODENBURG, GUGENHAGEN

The funeral of Charles Backes was held in St. John's Lutheran church on Monday afternoon at 2 o'clock and the Rev. Emil Lehne officiated.

Mr. Backes was born in Jefferson township and died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Albert Rodeburg. He has lived on a farm near Guttenberg nearly all his life and last year bought a residence from Frank Schorg and some of his time was spent in this city. He leaves a widow, two daughters, Mrs. Albert Rodenburg of Guttenberg, Mrs. Gugenhagen of Luana, and five sons, Erwin of Garnavillo, John of Keystone, Ernest, Arnold and Albert of Guttenberg; one sister and several brothers.
