Clayton County Register, Thur., 05 Mar. 1931. Elkport column.

Cynthia Elizabeth Bertha Damm, daughter of Rev. and Mrs. F. E. Damm, was born in Newall, Buena Vista County, Iowa, on June 19, 1910. In her infancy she was received into the fellowship of Jesus and made an heir and child of God through the sacrament of Holy Baptism. In the year 1924, after being duly instructed, she was confirmed and thereby renewed her baptismal vow made by her sponsors. She took life seriously, and always was ready to serve her Saviour. She was a member of the Young People's Society and a Sunday School teacher of this place. She was a devout Christian. On February 11, 1931, she became ill, but thinking she soon would be well, she looked forward to an occasion which stood before her, the day on which she would enter the state of holy matrimony, but God willed that she should enter into her Heavenly Home. She gradually grew worse, all was done to relieve and ease her, medical skill was summoned, a graduate nurse was called in and remained at her bedside the entire time, but the loving Father had other plans. He called her to her abiding home, to her eternal rest, after receiving, with her dear mother, the Sacrament of Holy Communion. On February 23, 1931, at 4 in the morning, God commanded His Holy Angels to carry her redeemed soul and place it into the safe-keeping of her Saviour. She reached the tender age of 20 years, eight months and four days. She leaves to mourn her early departure her dear parents, two dear sisters, Adeline and Geraldine, and a host of other relatives and friends, who mourn the loss of a friend and Christian.

Funeral services were conducted Feb. 25, 1931, at the parsonage at 1:30, followed by the services in the Evangelical Lutheran Immanuel's church at 2:00 p.m. Interment in the church cemetery. Prof. G. J. Zeilinger officiated. Music by choirs of the Elkport and Littleport congregations, organist, Rev. G. Bunge.
