Elkader Register, Thur., 16 Dec. 1920. Local column.
Monday evening, between five and six, Carl Funk, aged about sixty years, fell over dead on the Wm. Lembke farm near Clayton Center while unhitching a team of horses. He had just returned home with a load of coal which he had gotten from Elkader and was preparing to put the team into the barn. Justice Fred Lenth, in the absence of Coroner Beerman of Guttenberg served in that capacity and heart failure was given as the cause of Mr. Funk's death.
