ELKPORT: Mrs. Julia Doran, a former resident of Elkport, died at Dubuque, Iowa, Friday, August 22, 1930, after an illness of a year's duration.
The deceased was born in New York November 04, 1847 and came to Iowa and settled near Ekport, When a young girl she was married to James Doran at Elkport, Iowa in June 1864. After their marriage they moved onto a farm in Volga township, where they lived for forty-four years and on this farm her husband died. Her later years were spent at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Etta Blanchard, in Dubuque, at whose home she died.
Mrs. Doran was the mother of eleven children four of which preceded her in death. The surviving children, four sons, James P., Mason City, Iowa, Edwaard H. and John F., at Jasper, Minn., and William at Oelwein, Iowa, three daughters, Mrs. Peter Pope, Waupeton, Iowa, Mrs. Frank D. Prandy, Washington, D.C. and Mrs. R. H. Blanchard, Dubuque.
Funeral services were held at Dubuque Monday, August 25, 1930 from St. Patrick's church, Father Paul La Vallette officiating. Interment in Mt. Calvary.
