Gretchen Germar was born in Volga, Sept. 21, 1903, and departed this life at the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Otto Germar, July 02, 1930, age 26 years, nine months and ten days. She received her education in the Volga school. On June 19, 1922, she was married to James Travel [sic] of East Dubuque, Ill. To this union was born three children, Charlott and Arthur, and a baby which died in infancy. She was also preceded in death by her husband who passed away July 25, 1929. Besides her children she leaves to mourn her untimely death her parents, a brother and a sister and a host of relatives and friends. Funeral services were held at the home Saturday at 10 a.m. Rev. A. B. Chamberlain, pastor of the Methodist church officiated. Interment in Hill Crest cemetery. The floral offerings were many and beautiful. The bereaved ones have the sympathy of the entire community in their sad bereavement.

Mr. and Mrs. Albert Germar and Mr. and Mrs. William Germar of Des Moines attended the funeral of Mrs. James Travel Saturday.
