Clayton County Register, Thur., 05 June 1930.
The entire community was shocked to learn of the sudden death of Ernest M. Penhollow at his home in Osterdock, May 31, 1930. He had retired in his usual good health but awakened about midnight with an attack of acute indigestion, which caused his death before a doctor could be summoned.
Ernest M. Penhollow was born on a farm near Elkport, Apr. 21, 1863, and died at his home in Osterdock May 31, 1930. The greater part of his life was spent on the home farm, where he had the respect and esteem of all who knew him.
In 1890 he was united in marriage to Miss Frona McSperrin, who with an adopted son, Harry Penhollow of Tama, a daughter, Mrs. Irving Smith of Volga City, two brothers and a host of other relatives and friends survive him. He was a member of Turkey Valley lodge I.O.O.F. and the M.W.A. He and his wife retired from the farm a few years ago and have since made their home in Ostedock, where he was a loyal and enterprising citizen. His family and friends have the deepest sympathy of the whole community.
