Clayton County Register, Thur., 05 June 1930. St. Olaf column.
O. J. Tinkham passed away at the county home Sunday evening, May 25, 1930. Mr. Tinkham was the third son of John and Elizabeth Tinkham, was born in Wayne County, Mich., May 13, 1851. He was united in marriage to Emma Hitchcock in April, 1885.
He lived the greater part of his life in this community, with the exception of 10 years in Seattle, Wash. Mr. Tinkham was a very benevolent neighbor and friend. His conscientious devotion and his untiring care displayed in caring for his invalid wife, who passed on to her final reward July 10, 1928, will always remain a bright and outstanding chapter in his memory. He leaves to mourn his passing one brother, George, of Seattle, Wash., and one stepson, George Humbert, of Arlington. Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon in the Methodist church, Rev. A. B. Chamberlain officiating. Interment in Hill Crest cemetery. What's death? A little broadening of the ripple upon the Eternal shore. A little loosening of the bands that cripple, this and nothing more. What's death, a little parting of the clouds above us that hide the sun. A golden vision of the souls that love us, and labor done.
