Archie Martin was born in Honey Creek township, Delaware county, November 04, 1887 and died at Greeley, April 06, 1930, having reached the age of 42 years, five months and two days at the time of his demise.

He was the son of John J. and Alice Martin. He is survived by his wife and five children, Russell, Donald, Virgil, Elaine and Lois; his mother, two brothers, Zeke of Greeley and Roy of Manchester; one sister, Mrs. Wilber Connors, of Winthrop; also several uncles and aunts. His father preceded him in death seventeen months ago.

He spent his early years in the grade school at Greeley and later finished in the school at Hopkinton. He was united in marriage to Elsie Roeder, February 16, 1916, and with his family moved to Elkader nine years ago, where he worked as a tractor operator for the county and also for Stoops & Williamson for several years.

He was taken sick about a year ago and went to Iowa City hospital and later to Davenport, but received no relief. About nine weeks ago he was brought back as far as Greeley, where he died in the home of his mother.

Funeral services were held last week Wednesday afternoon in the Evangelical church, conducted by the Rev. C. H. Franke. Interment was made in the East Side cemetery. The pall bearers were chosen from the local volunteer fire company, of which he was a member, and were as follows; Wm. Swartz, A. A. Schultz, Leroy Dittmer, Don Munger, Richard Opitz and Eldo Meyer.
