Samuel Roys passed away at his home in Highland township at 10 o'clock Sunday morning, March 16th, following an illness of ten days duration from cerebral hemorrhage. Mr. Roys was stricken very suddenly on Tuesday afternoon, March 4th. His condition was alarming but he rallied from unconsciousness with his mind clear and without being paralyzed. He seemed to gain for a few days preceding his death, and while his condition in some ways was encouraging but little hope could be held out for his recovery. Early Sunday morning he had the third attack, soon lapsed into unconsciousness and in a few hours passed over the river into "the city not made with hands external in the Heavens, whose builder and maker is God."

Funeral services were held Tuesday, March 18th at two o'clock p.m. at the Methodist church in Volney City, Rev. A. B. Chamberlain, pastor, officiating. Interment was in Hill Crest cemetery.- Volga City News.
