Elkader Register, Thur.,27 Feb. 1930. Strawberry Point column.

Martha Eleanor Davis was born in Defiance, Defiance County, Ohio, January 13th, 1847, and passed away February 17th, 1930, at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Grace Tucker, Strawberry Point, at the age of 83 years, one month and three days. She came to Iowa with her parents at the age of 12 years, and was married to James Wilson June 23, 1866. To this union were born eight children, of whom two preceded her in death in their youth. Mr. Wilson passed away July 4, 1887. Mrs. Wilson came to Strawberry Point on March 1, 1910. She was united in marriage to William Kelsey in October, 1913. Mr. Kelsey passed away five years later. She moved from the farm to town, which has since been her home until December 24, 1929, when she came to make her home with her daughter on account of her failing health. She leaves to mourn her departure six children, Frank E. Wilson of Cresco, James D. Wilson of Fairbault, Minn., Mrs. W. E. Galbreath of Los Angeles, Calif., Mrs. Will Rowell of Volga City, Harry P. Wilson of Manchester and Mrs. Grace Tucker of Strawberry Point. She also leaves 26 grandchildren and 37 great-grandchildren and many friends to mourn their loss. She was a good woman, a faithful wife and mother and a loyal neighbor and friend, and will be missed by many. She had failed in health during the past year and a half, but recently had failed rapidly and suffered patiently.

Funeral services were conducted in her daughter's home by the Rev. Thos. J. Elwick and interment was made in the Volga City cemetery Wednesday. Grandsons were her pallbearers and a quartet sang "Rock of Ages" and "Face to Face."
