William Miene

Services were conducted from St. Paul Lutheran church, Postville, Tuesday, October 3 for William L. Miene, who died at his home Saturday, September 30. The Rev. Norman Ullestad officiated. Interment was in the Postville cemetery.

William Ludwig Miene, son of William and Anna Dierking Miene, was born in Neinburg, Germany, August 25, 1891. He was confirmed in St. Paul Lutheran church, April 12, 1908, and on April 5, 1924 was married to Emma Konow. They were the parents of five children.

The couple farmed 1 1/2 miles west of Luana for 48 years and Mr. Miene resided there at the time of his death.

Preceding him in death were his parents, his wife, two daughters who died in infancy; one granddaughter, Tammy Sue; two sisters who died in early childhood; a sister Mrs. John (Frieda) Walch and a brother Fred.

Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. LeRoy (Ruby) Foels and Elfrieda at home; a son, William Jr., Postville; a grandson, John; a granddaughter, Mary; great granddaughter, Koral; a brother Henry; two sisters, Mrs. Carl (Meta) Steglich and Mrs. Harold (Velma) Schultz, many nieces and nephews.
