Edward Wesley, son of Mr. and Mrs. John Olliver, was born June 21, 1859, at National, Iowa. He died Jan. 22, 1930 at Colesburg, Iowa, at the age of 70 years.
On December 27, 1884, he was united in marriage to Miss Anna Mary Braygaw of Elkader. To them were born seven children, all daughters: Mrs. Elva Grossman, Mrs. Zela Johnson, Mrs. Grace Love, Mrs. Floyette Whitehouse, Mrs. DeEtta Kelly, Mrs. Orrelle Minney and Miss Averiel Olliver.
After his marriage he made his home at Monona, and was engaged in running a dray from Monona to McGregor. After the death of his wife, 13 years ago, he moved to McGregor and operated his dray from here. Owing to the nature of his work he became well known among the many people living between the two towns.
Mr. Olliver was a member of the Northern Light Lodge at Monona and he was an attendant of the Methodist church. He has lived in this section of the county all his life and has become highly respected by the people whom he accommodated during the 35 years of service as a drayman.
He passed away Wednesday of last week after a few days of illness with pneumonia. Those left to mourn his death are his seven daughters, and one sister, Mrs. Edward Knoebel of McGregor.
The funeral services were held at the home of his daughter, Mrs. H.J. Minney, Rev. Schepple officiating and interment was in the Pleasant Grove cemetery.
