Edward Upton, son of John and Amelia Upton, was born at Elkader, Iowa, April 5, 1861 and passed away Jan. 7, 1930, at the age of 68 years, nine months and two days.
He always lived in and around Elkader until about a year ago when he came to make his home with his brother, Charles, who lives near Volga.
He was only ill 24 hours. He leaves his brother, Charles, of Volga; two sisters, Mrs. Julia Kelleher, of Clermont; Mrs. Emma Lamphier, of Elkader; a number of nieces and nephews, besides a host of friends who mourn his loss.
His father died eleven years ago last October, and his mother died just a year ago last Sunday.
Funeral services were held on Friday afternoon, Jan. 10th, 1930, at the Charles Upton home near Volga City, with the Rev. C. H. Franke officiating. Interment was made in the Volga City cemetery.
