Elkader Register, 09 Jan. 1930.

Karl Johann Friederich Glawe was born March 11, 1874 in Buffalo, New York, and from there removed to Read township with his parents. Here in our Ev. Luth. Zions church he was confirmed, March 25, 1888 by Rev. Seifert. Jan. 12, 1898 he was united in marriage with Anna, nee Jung in Clayton Center. Three children were born to this union, one dying in infancy; Mrs. Glawe passed away March 8, 1904 and the two small children found a home with Mr. and Mrs. Chas. Rantzow. But death even parted these two sisters and only the youngest one survives her father.

Until of late Mr. Glawe had made his home in Farmersburg. Becoming ill he was taken to the home of his daughter and after being here only one day, he died Jan. 1, 1930. The days of his pilgrimage are 55 years, 9 months, 21 days.

The survivors are the only daughter, Esther, married to Hugo Kalke, and their two children Edwin and Lillian, also six brothers and one sister; Fritz, Wilhelm, Heinrich, George, Edward and Louis and Mrs. Rieke Kliefoth. One brother, Johan Glawe, died March 16, 1899 and a sister, Mrs. Karoline Huckstadt, Aug. 11, 1929.

The funeral was held Monday, Jan. 5th, burial in the old cemetery at Clayton Center, with the Rev. Buthold F. K. Korte officiating.
