from the Thurs., 24 Mar. 1887 issue of "Elkader Register" in the Our Local Scrap-Bag section, page 5, column 2:

DIED—on Friday, March 18th, 1887, at his late residence in Highland township, occurred the death of Frederick Ebendorf, at the age of 66 years. Deceased was a native of Prussia, but had been a resident of Clayton county for the past fifteen years. He leaves a wife and several grown children to mourn his death. The funeral occurred on Sunday last, Rev. F. W. Seifert preaching the funeral sermon. His remains were laid away to the final rest in the east side cemetery.
