Elkader Register, Thur., 23 Dec. 1920.

Mrs. Joren Embretson died at the family home in Wagner township on December 18th, 1920 at 8:15 a.m. after several weeks illness. She had reached the age of eighty-five years, two months and thirty days.

Deceased was born October 11, 18_5, at Nummedal, Norway, and came to this country in 18_5, first settling at Jefferson Prairie, Wis., and the following year coming to Clayton County.

In 1855 she was united in marriage by Rev. V. Koren of Washington Prairie, Iowa, to Lars Embretson, the ceremony taking place in a log house in Wagner township. To this union five children - three sons and two daughters were born, all of whom mourn the loss of a kind and loving mother. They are viz: Nels and Ole on the home place; Mrs. Seth Clark; Mrs. Martin Sivertson, Taylor, N. Dak., and Knut Embretson, Zumbrota, Minn.

Funeral services were held in the Norway Church Tuesday afternoon, December 21 and interment was made in the Norway Church Cemetery. Louis Halvorson, Halvor Halvorson, Carl Christianson, Nils Halvorson, H. P. Larson and Will Patterson were the pallbearers.

Mrs. Embretson was a regular attendant of both the Norway Church and the Ladies' Aid Society and was a great reader, especially of religious books. She was a hospitable old lady and her friends and neighbors will miss her much.

We join them in extending our sincere sympathy to those who mourn her departure.

_______________

Note: She & her husband Lars have gravestones in Norway cemetery, their shared family monument is engraved GRONHOVD. They went by surname Embretson after immigration to U.S.
