CLEGHORN

Since our last communication the ruthless hand of Death has been spread over our quiet little city and taken from our midst the loveliness of youth and the pride of manhood. Henry Ruble and Grace Cleghorn are with us no more; they are sleeping that sleep that knows no awakening until time with us shall be no more.

Grace is quietly sleeping in Pleasant Ridge Cemetery.

I hear the tread of other feet,
And other tones of glee
And listen for another voice
That comes no more to me.
I sit and mark in silent grief,
The solemn hours move on;
Oh! what can give my heart relief,
Our dear one is gone.

DIED - In North McGregor, on Saturday, June 10, 1877, Grace, only daughter of H.A. and H.M. Cleghorn, aged 14 years.

The loss of this young lady is an affliction shared in by the community at large. Her life and character were such as to command the admiration of all; a dearly loved one; the pride of the school room; a joy in the Sunday school; a rich blessing to the companions who walked in her light, blessed with the kindliest thoughts.

She was the flower that bloomed in richness in the happy home of childhood, a noble example of purity and love devotional. The angels called; God permitted the separation; Grace is in the celestial home, over and beyond the great river - happier, happier still.

Mr. and Mrs. Cleghorn return their most heartfelt thanks to the kind friends who so cheerfully administered to their necessities during the days of sickness and in the hours of their sore affliction.
