Relatives yesterday morning received the sad news of the accidental death Tuesday evening of Dr. Tom Donlon in Chicago. Tuesday evening about seven o'clock the doctor was struck by a street car and passed away at eleven the same evening. The remains will be brought here for burial, which will be held from the St. Joseph' church Friday.

Dr. T. H. Donlon oldest son of Patrick and Mary Donlon was born in the state of Massachusetts on March 4th, 1855 and died in Chicago, November 23, 1920 as a result of injuries received from being struck by a street car and his remains were brought to Elkader for burial from St. Joseph's Catholic church. His remains were accompanied by his wife and sons and Miss Anna Boland, Dr. S. Donlon and son John and Father Wellmon and Mr. O'Neill.
He came with his parents to Iowa in the spring of 1864 and being the oldest of a family of ten children much of responsibility of their welfare fell on him. He was a partner of Stemmer, Dittmer & Donlon Agricultural Implement business, selling out to his partners and for several years followed various occupations. On the death of his father he managed the old home farm for years. After seeing his brothers and sisters settled in their vocations he commenced to think of his own ambitions and took up the study of medicine. He then married Miss Mary Boland on November 21, 1906 and continued his studies and graduated from a North Western Medical College and later specialized in certain branches of medicine. He practiced medicine in Chicago for eight years. He was the father of three children: Thomas, Joseph, and Robert who with their mother mourn the loss of their father, a man known to possess true sterling qualities, one that always wanted to do for everybody, forgetting himself.
He is also survived by six brothers and three sisters who with a host of friends mourn with the family, his death. He was a fourth degree member of the Knights of Columbus also a charter member of St. Joseph's order of Foresters, of which order the members marched in a body to attend his funeral.
