Elkader Register, Thur., 12 Aug. 1920. Volga column.
Albert Boleyn was born on a farm near Wadena, Fayette Co., on the 17th of Dec. 1866, and died at his home in Volga at 2 p.m. Aug. 4, 1920, after a severe and lingering illness of several weeks.
All that medical skill and good nursing could do was done to stay the fell destroyer, and for a while friends thought he might rally, but complications developed which destroyed all hopes of his recovery.
Mr. Boleyn was what one would term a self made man. He was deprived of his mother when but three years old, and the tender age of seven years he began to provide for himself. He worked thru the summer seasons and during the winter months worked for his board and attended the district schools. It may be consistantly said of Mr. Boleyn, that he graduated in the college of his own practical and varied experiences.
In September of 1886 he was married to Miss Maggie Lowe, the only daughter of Mr. and Mrs. David Lowe, and their married life has been spent near and in Volga, where they built a fine modern home, and its hospitable doors have been open to all.
Mr. Boleyn is well known in business circles, having built up a reputation by applying his energies with unstinted zeal and circumspection, and stood well to the front as one of the progressive and energetic agriculturists and stock growers of the county.
Albert will be greatly missed not only in business relations, but in the church in which he has been identified for many years, and has always held a prominent position. He was converted in early manhood under the pastorate of Rev. L. S. Cooley in 1895, and at once gave himself to religious zeal and devotion, contemplating consecrating his life to God, and entering the ministry. As an exorter in the church he proved very active, holding meetings in School-houses, and in other ways persuaded men to give themselves to Christ. As Sunday School Superintendent, steward and trustee, he has always shown a deep interest in all matters pertaining to the church.
His family will miss a loving and indulgent husband and father. The community at large will miss him.
Five children were born to them: Harry the oldest, Earl, Vena, Neva and one son dying in infancy. Beside the mother and children there is one sister, Mrs. Jones, of Oelwein, and other relatives and many friends and neighbors who will mourn the passing of Albert Boleyn.
The funeral was held Friday afternoon from the Methodist Church, Rev. W. H. Smith of Strawberry Point preaching the sermon assisted by Rev. G. M. Shoemaker, of Lime Springs, Iowa, and Rev. G. L. Heiserman the local pastor. Interment in the Hill Crest Cemetery. The Honorary pall bearers were: R. S. Blake Green Island, Iowa; O. B. Zuck, Cedar Rapids, Iowa; Ben Drake, Palo, Iowa; Ed. Lange, Strawberry Point, Iowa; Ed. Kremple, Lamont, Ia.; Wm. Mattox, Wadena, Ia.

Jellings of Oelwein, Ia.; Mr. and Mrs. Dave Jellings, of Fayette, Iowa; Mrs. Nora marble, of Clinton, Iowa; Mr. and Mrs. John Horton of Sumner, Iowa; Mrs. Vesta Davis, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; Mrs. Ben Drake, of Palo, Iowa; Guy Whitford, Lime Springs, Iowa; Mrs. John Lowe, La Harpe, Kan., and Mrs. Eliza Boleyn, of Wadena, Iowa.
