Elkader Register, Thur., 24 June 1920.

Mrs. Maria Dinse, nee Kruse, was born April 14th, 1833, in Ruhmannsdorf province of Pommern, Germany. There she was baptized and confirmed and received an elementary schooling. In 1856 she was united in marriage with Fritz Dinse and in 1878 they followed her brother to America, enjoying the hospitality of his home for a longer time in Clayton Center. In the year 1906, her husband died and the remaining four (fourteen ??) years of her life were spent in solitary widowhood, but her relatives looked after her welfare. The deceased enjoyed good health during her lifetime. On last Saturday she was stricken with paralysis, of the brain and the end came Sunday morning at 3:30. Funeral services were held from her home and in the church, Monday, June 14, Rev. Athenstaedt officiating. There were many beautiful floral offerings. She is survived by one sister, Mrs. C. Lahrs, her age being 86 years, 1 month and 29 days.
