James Lincoln Reynolds was born December 27, 1860 at Elkader, Iowa, a son of James and Elizabeth Reynolds. He was the youngest of six children, viz: Ed. at Wayne, Nebr., Minerva at Cedar Falls, Iowa, Anna of Idaho and Theodore and Elias, who preceded him in death. Deceased grew up to manhood at Elkader.
Mr. Reynolds was married to Bertha Lenth, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Chas. Lenth of Farmersburg township on May 1, 1890.
This marriage was blessed with two children, Raymond of Mason City and Mabel, who died in infancy.
For a number of years he traveled, later he had several businesses and last under the Wilson administration he was appointed postmaster in which office he served the government faithfully up to Jan. 16, when he had to take to his bed and on Jan. 24 at 11:15 he passed away never to return. Although he had been in poor health for a long time, death was unexpected.
He leaves to mourn his departure his widow, one son, fourteen nephews and nieces besides a host of friends.
He is now resting in peace, free from all care and strife.
The funeral took place Tuesday, Jan. 27 at the town hall in St. Olaf conducted by Rev. Arveson, who had chosen a very appropriate text. Interment was made in the Farmersburg and Wagner cemetery.
