Register and Argus, 02 Dec. 1915 Volga column.
Millie C. Fredrick was born in Bond County, Ill., October 3rd, 1860, and died at her home in Volga City, Iowa, November 25th, 1915, aged 55 years, 1 month and 2 days. She grew to young womanhood in the county where she was born. In the year 1876, October 5th, she was married to Mr. Chris Fredrick, at Muschutte, Ill. To this union were born five sons and three daughters, four having preceded their mother to the spirit world. After their marriage they lived in Illinois two years, after which they moved to Strawberry Point, Iowa, where they lived for thirty-three years. Three years ago they moved to Volga City where they have lived since.
After a couple years of imperfect health and the past nine months of serious afflictions and suffering, but always so patient and kind, with never a murmur on her lips and always so grateful for favors shown by her devoted loved ones and friends, she silently and peacefully passed to her heavenly reward on Thanksgiving morning. The Master had come and called her from living service and patient suffering to the joys of an endless life.
Mrs. Fredrick became a Christian early in life. She united with the M.E. church at Strawberry Point, Iowa, about the year 1884, under the labors of Rev. Carlton and coming to Volga City she had her membership transferred to the M.E. church of this town. She was a true, noble and loyal Christian woman, devoted to her church and her Christian faith, always ready to contribute her share to the contributions of her church and always interested in all the work of the church. She was a kind-hearted woman and beloved by all who knew her and a lover of her home, shedding the sacred influence of a devout wife and Christian mother every where in her home. But her days have been numbered, her work is done, the battle of life has been fought, and a heroic soul has won the divine Eulogy "Well done, thou good and faithful servant, thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things. Enter thou into the joy of thy Lord.""She rests from her labors and her works do follow her."
Her only sister, Mrs. Mary E. Davenport, of Independence, Kan. was unable to reach the bedside of her sister until she had passed away.
She leaves to mourn her loss a sorrowful and bereft husband, three sons - D. J., of North Platte, Neb.; John H. and E. J., both of Volga City, Iowa, one daughter, Mrs. Lucy E. Farrell, of Elkader; one brother, David Price, and one sister, Mrs. Mary Davenport, both of Independence, Kan.
The funeral services were held in the M.E. church in charge of Rev. Neilson, the pastor, and Rev. Walter Piper, a former pastor, assisting, who gave the address from 1 Cor. 1:5, and Rev. Jennings, an old friend of the family, assisting at the grave.
The mortal remains were laid to rest in the beautiful Hillcrest Cemetery awaiting the resurrection morn
"Asleep in Jesus: Blessed sleep!
From which none ever wakes to weep."Those present at the funeral from a distance were Mr. and Mrs. Davenport, of Independence, Kan,; Mrs. E. S. Murlhiem and Mrs. Julia Mannering, both of Oelwein, Iowa; D. J. Fredrick, the son of the deceased, of North Platte, Neb., and Henry and John Fredrick, of Strawberry Point.
