Register and Argus, 09 Sept. 1915. Elkport column.
Our community was shocked on Sunday afternoon when it was reported that Clarence Lamphere, son of Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Lamphere, had drowned in the Turkey river. A number of young folks had gathered at the river for a picnic party and Clarence and others were wading in the river when Clarence got beyond his depth and being unable to swim, drowned. A large number from here went out at once to hunt the body but it was not found until about 11:00 a.m., Monday. The deceased was about 18 years of age. The parents have the sympathy of the entire community. The funeral was held at Volga City.
