Herman A. Schroeder died Saturday evening after a lingering illness. He was born Dec. 16th, 1854, in Cincinnati, Ohio, and came with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Rudolph Schroeder, to Jefferson township, when a boy. He was married about thirty-five years ago to Miss Goodrich and has been farming for a number of years. About ten years ago he moved to town and run a livery barn. He is survived by his wife and one son, Calvin, in Jefferson township, and three daughters, Mrs. Frank Schrorg, Mrs. Ed Vorwald and Mrs. Alex Kann, besides six brothers: John Schroeder, in Monona; George and Ed, near Postville; Fred, in Nebraska; Louis and August, in Guttenberg, and one sister, Mrs. Fred Krueger, in Spencer, S.D. He was a member of the M.W.A. lodge. Burial took place Tuesday afternoon from his residence to the City cemetery. He was a very good man and a model citizen.
