Register and Argus, 05 Aug. 1915.
Mary E. Davis was born in Bedford County, Pa., April 11, 1849. With her parents she came to Iowa in 1854, settling in Clayton County, where she has resided ever since, except for the year shortly preceding her death which she and her husband spent in Colesburg. She was united in marriage, October 16, 1879, to Richard McCoy Rideneour, who preceded her to the better world by only seven weeks and four days. Since Mr. Rideneour's death she resided with her only son and his wife in the old home where her sorrow and suffering were ended by the summons home July 23, 1915. She leaves to mourn her departure an only child, Eli and wife, one brother, Samuel Davis, half brother, Daniel McDonald, and a host of relatives and friends who have long since learned to love her. She was converted about ten years ago, joined the Fairview United Brethern Church where she remained an earnest, faithful member, absent in body but present in spirit and prayer, and although for over thirty years an invalid, suffering from rheumatism and other afflictions, she was always kind, gentle and considerate of others. Our loss is her gain, as she goes to meet her God and friends who have preceded her to the home where sorrow, pain and goodbyes are unknown. The funeral was held in the U.B. Church, Sunday, conducted by Rev. O. J. Felter. Interment was made in Brown cemetery.
