Register and Argus, 10 June 1915.
Richard McCoy Ridenour was born in Bedford County, Pennsylvania, Sept. 20th, 1847, and suddenly passed away June 1st, 1915, at his home in Colesburg, Iowa. He came to Iowa when a boy and resided on a farm near Garber until about a year ago. As a young man he attended school at Leander Clark College. He was united in marriage Oct. 16th, 1879, to Mary E. Davis, who now lives on the old place. He leaves a gentle, patient, though for twenty years an invalid wife, son R. Ely, two brothers, Emanuel and Ely H., two sisters Emily and Mary Ellen White, besides a host of relatives and friends who will remember Mr. Ridenour as an ever kind and loving husband, good father, thoughtful brother and a friend to all. He was a devout Christian and a member of the U.B. church, leaving the sweet consolation that he was ready to go though the words of God were verified in that he said "Lo! I come quickly."
The funeral was held Thursday, June 3rd, in the Colesburg M.E. church and interment made in the Brown cemetery, conducted by Rev. O. J. Felter.
