The death of John Magnuson, who was fireman on the Elkader branch for many years, occurred at his home in North McGregor, Friday afternoon, March 26th.
Mr. Magnuson was born in Forshaga, Sweden, Jan. 1st, 1861, and came to America when about seventeen years of age. He entered the employ of the C,M. & St.P. Ry. Co. about thirty years ago, continuing in their employ until failing health forced him to stop.
He was married to Miss Anna Danielson Dec. 29th, 1898, and shortly after their marriage they came to Elkader, making this their home until about eighteen years ago.
The funeral services were conducted Monday morning in the M.E. church at McGregor, Rev. Neilson officiating. The I.O.O.F. of McGregor and members from Elkader were in charge of the burial services at Oakland cemetery.
He leaves to mourn his death, his widow and four sons, Robert, John, Oscar and Clarence; also two sisters, Mrs. Oscar Dahlbom and Mrs. Gustave Hiderg, both of Chicago.
