Register and Argus, 04 Mar. 1915.

Catherine S. Wisegarver was born in Bedford county, Pa., Sept. 20th, 1841, and passed away at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Albert Clapper, in Mason City, Iowa, Feb. 24, 1915, being 73 years, 5 months ad 4 days of age.

She came to Iowa about 1866 and was married to Benjamin Funk, Oct. 12, 1871. To them were born four daughters: Mrs. Theron Vamilya and Mrs. Albert Clapper, of Mason City, Mrs. Frank Kolker, of Turkey River and Mrs. Erna Harvey, deceased.

Mrs. Funk made her home with her daughter, Mrs. Frank Kolker, since the death of her husband eleven years ago. She went to Mason City in September to visit her two daughters and was stricken with paralysis on Oct. 28th, from which she never recovered. After four months of patient suffering God called her to her reward just as the sun was setting.

She was converted at the age of twenty, joining the M.E. church, of which she was a faithful and consistent member until her death. She leaves to mourn her loss, besides the three daughters, four grandchildren: Herald and Helen Vamilya and Ruth and Russell Kolker; four sisters, Mrs. Bess Adams, of Mellette, S.D., Mrs. Mary Zimmer, of Pennsylvania, Mrs. Eliza Bolsinger, of Turkey River, Iowa, and Mrs. Luther Macnamee, of Mason City, Iowa; two brothers, Will, of Oklahoma and John, of Kansas, and also a host of friends who will miss her loving smiles, motherly council and helping hand, for nothing but goodness could be said of Grandma Funk. The funeral services were conducted at the home of Frank Kolker on Friday by Rev. C. A. Baldwin. Interment in the Brown cemetery near Colesburg.
