Register and Agus, 28 Jan. 1915.

At about the noon hour on Saturday, Jan. 16th, at the home of his daughter, Mrs. S. G. Erickson, near Clermont, occurred the death of Even Hegna Nelson.

He had been ill for some time and in spite of all that medical aid and loving hands could do, he passed to the great beyond, casting a deep gloom over the homes where he has been so tenderly and faithfully cared for for the past years.

Even Hegna Nelson was born May 20th, 1838, in Nummedahl, Norway. At an early age he was confirmed in the Lutheran faith, of which church he was a lifelong member.

In 1858 he was married to Turi Syverson Oset and the same year emigrated to America, living for two years at Blooming Prairie, Minn., and then moving to Clayton County, Iowa, where he has since resided.

His wife preceded him in death about 21 years. Mr. and Mrs. Nelson were the parents of six children, three of whom survive their father: Nels, of Inwood, Ia.; Simon, of Gunder, and Mrs. S. G. Erickson, of Clermont. He is also survived by two brothers, one sister and a number of grandchildren.

Mr. Nelson was a man with whom it was a pleasure to come in contact, always ready to give a kind word and helping hand to the needy. He was also a faithful member of the Lutheran church and was one of the founders of the church here.

The funeral was held on Tuesday afternoon at the Marion church, Rev. Arvesen officiating and interment was made in the Marion cemetery.

We shall meet beyond the river,
Where the surges cease to swell.
Where there is no grief or sorrow,
And where everything is well.
