Mr. and Mrs. J. J. Boland, of Buffalo Center, arrived yesterday, called by the death of Mrs. Boland's mother, Mrs. Wm. West, which occurred Tuesday at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Andrew Cook. The funeral services will be held Friday afternoon at 1:00 o'clock at the Congregational church.

On Tuesday morning, Jan 26th, at the home of her daughter, Mrs. A. J. Cook, of Marion township, occurred the death of Mrs. Elizabeth West at the age of 74 years, 5 months and 15 days.
While Mrs. West had not enjoyed good health for the last fifteen years her departure was not expected so suddenly. The turn at the last had only the short duration of two days.
Elizabeth Underwood was born in Timberlane, Lincolnshire, England, Aug. 11th, 1840. At the age of seven years she came to this country with her parents, first settling at Cleveland, Ohio, and later coming to Clayton county, where she has been a resident ever since with the exception of four years spent in Nebraska and Missouri. She was the youngest of a family of nine children, all of whom have preceded her to the other world.
She was united in marriage to Wm. West Oct. 28th, 1862. Eleven children were born to this union, ten of whom are living: Wm. E., John G., Thomas, Richard, Absolum, Mrs. A. J. Cook, Mrs. J. J. Boland, Mrs. John Feller, Mrs. R. P. Schuld and Mrs. W. H. Boland. Besides these are twenty-seven grandchildren and other relatives and friends.
Her husband departed this life Oct. 4th, 1907 and since then she has resided with her children.
