Lydia A. Levenstine was born December 20th, 1833, in Hanover, Pa. She came to Iowa with her parents in 1855 and settled in Clayton County.
She was married to Jas. Ridenour April 22nd, 1858. To this union were born three children, one of whom, Amanda Ellen, died in infancy.
In 1857 she was converted to the faith of Jesus Christ, and joined the United Brethren church. This occurred in the old schoolhouse, before the church was built. She continued a faithful member of the church until her death. Mrs. Ridenour died Jan. 8th, 1915, aged 81 years and nineteen years.
She leaves to mourn her loss, two brothers, Amos and Eli Levenstin; one sister, Mary Ann, of Pennsylvania, and two children, Martha Elizabeth Watt, of Allison, Iowa, and George W., of this place. She also leaves nine grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren. Besides these she will be missed by a host of relatives and friends.
