Register and Argus, 14 Jan 1915. Strawberry Point column.

Hielman Dunning, known here where he had resided for many years as squire Dunning, was born at Gainesville, New York, Oct. 23rd, 1840. He was the youngest of a family of eleven children, all of whom preceded him in death except one sister, Maryette, whom he was visiting at the time of his death. On September 22nd, 1864, he was united in marriage to Miss Jennie A. Walke, of Gainsville, N.Y. To this union was born one daughter, Mrs. Stephen Ball. Mr. and Mrs. Dunning lived in New York state for a short time after their marriage. They moved to Strawberry Point in the year 1871, where he has since resided. His wife passed away in June, 1894, and he has since made his home with his daughter, Mrs. Ball, on the old homestead just south of the city. After an illness of only a few days, he passed away, at the home of his niece, Mrs. Frank Dolph, at Bliss, N.Y. His illness was not thought to be anything serious and he was up and about the house all the time. The evening he passed away he and his sister were sitting by the fire visiting. She had addressed a remark to him but received no answer and on investigation found that he had passed away. The body was brought here Thursday morning and funeral services were held in the Baptist church, conducted by the pastor, W. R. Bailey. Interment took place in the Strawberry Point cemetery.
