DIED - At her home on Hewitt Creek, Friday, August 7th, 1885, of heart disease, Sally Phillips, aged 69 years. Sally C. Goodell was born in the town of Hopkinton, St. Lawrence County, N.Y., September 3, 1816. She experienced religion and joined the Methodist church at the age of fourteen years and was a faithful follower of Christ to the end. She was married to Israel Phillips October 3, 1832. There was born unto them nine children, of which only three are living. Her husband died February 15, 1873. For some time she has been a great sufferer from heart disease, which was the cause of her death. Mother Phillips was highly respected by all who knew her, as was clearly shown by the large gathering of people at the funeral. She selected the text and hymn for her funeral, Hebrews, 4th chapter, 9th verse: "There remaineth therefore a rest to the people of God." Hymns 973 and 945, "Asleep in Jesus," and "How blest the righteous when they die." - Brush Creek News.
