Elkader Register, 24 June 1885.
DIED - At the home of her grandparents, June 18th, Rena, aged nine years, daughter of Scott and Delia Frames, and granddaughter of surveyor Zearley. Little Rena had been sick for about a month, and had suffered greatly; she was a loving child and a bright scholar. She will be sadly missed in school by both scholars and teachers as she was a favorite with all. The funeral services were conducted by Strother Hansel at the Studebaker school house. The afflicted friends have the deep sympathy of all. Thus another pure spirit has been called home; never more shall we see her bright little face or hear her ringing laugh, yet we know she is at rest, and while it is so hard to give her up, yet we sadly bow to the decree and try to murmur, "Thy will be done."
